As members continue living the national theme, Ignite Your Passion, Empower His Mission, I invite councils across Canada to take part in a meaningful and life-giving service opportunity by joining the League’s ‘Partners for Life’ blood donation team through Canadian Blood Services.

To date, there are 98 members on our ‘Partners for Life’ team. Now I am putting forward a national challenge: Can the League’s blood donation team grow to 200 members by December 2026?

Every blood donation can help save up to three lives. Patients receiving cancer treatments, emergency care, surgeries and other medical procedures rely on donors every day. This simple act of blood donation truly reflects Christ’s call to care for one another.

I would never ask members to do something I am not willing to do myself. Although I donated blood years ago, it had been a long time since my last donation. Recently, I decided to sign up again, join the League’s team and book an appointment. The process proved surprisingly easy and served as a reminder of how meaningful it feels to know I was helping someone I may never meet. Over the years, I have been blessed to donate 65 times and, while that may not seem like a large number to some longtime donors, each appointment reminded me that even one donation can make a difference. See the enclosed poster with details on how to join the team.

Ignite Your Passion — Give the Gift of Life

Empower His Mission — Become a Blood Donor Today

Please share this initiative with your diocesan counterparts and encourage councils to promote the enclosed poster in parish halls, newsletters, meetings and on social media. I also challengeevery council nationwide to encourage at least one member to join the League’s ‘Partners for Life’ blood donation team this year. Imagine the impact we could make if every council helped bring in just one new donor!

Together, we can make a real difference—one donation at a time.

Thank you for all you continue to do in faith, service and compassion.

Your sister in the League,

Madonna Clark
